Participated in a six-month deployment aboard USS Constellation (CV-64) to the Sea of Japan, Indian Ocean, and Persian Gulf. Flew combat missions over Iraq in support of United Nations resolutions as part of Operation Southern Watch.

Lead teams of sailors in each of the squadron’s four departments:

  • Operations: Scheduling Officer for all flight operations during work-up cycle and overseas deployment; efforts led directly to increased squadron readiness
  • Maintenance: Staffed, trained and directed the career development of more than 50 sailors with 7 maintenance specialties in a combat squadron with over $400 million of aircraft and support equipment
  • Safety: In charge of training and standardization program for 18 other pilots
  • Administration: Responsible for the fair and impartial application of the military justice system; Worked to improve the morale and work environment for all 180 squadron members

Participated in joint and international combat exercises from Okinawa to Alaska. Learned to be an effective leader in any environment under difficult conditions.
